Masonic Education

At out last meeting the Worshipful Master introduced W. Bro. Bill, Past Master of Northern Hills Lodge in Pennsylvania. W. Bro. Bill has visited Coronation Lodge numerous times over the years as he has a summer vacation home in the Muskoka’s. He provided a Masonic Education lecture on the symbolism of Masonry.

In his presentation he mentioned a paper by W L Wilmshurst titled The Meaning Of Masonry. A copy of this paper can be found in the Internet Archives at https://archive.org/details/The_Meaning_Of_Masonry_-_W_L_Wilmshurst

Message from the East

I would like to start off by saying how much of an honour it was to be a part of the 25- and 50-year pin presentations we did last month. Thank you to all the brethren who came out before the meeting as well for the barbeque that was held. The barbeque raised $220 for the District Project. Also, a special thanks to V.W Bro. David and Bro. John for preparing the food that was much enjoyed by everyone. The Lodge will be hosting an information booth and display at the Elmvale Fall Fair on Friday October 7th and Saturday October 8th. Anyone wishing to help with the set-up of the booth or can spare a couple of hours to host at the display is asked to contact V.W. Bro. Bill or the Sectrtary. I am looking forward to this September’s meeting where we will be conducting a second degree for Bro. Todd . Every month we are getting some great turnouts for our work of the evening, and this month will be no exception. I look forward to seeing you all there.

NOTE: There will be two practices this month on Monday September 19th at 7:00pm, and of note, our usual Sunday practice before the meeting will be moved to Monday September 26, 2022. @ 7:00p.m

Fraternally,

W. Bro. Craig

Grand Lodge COVID-19 Update May 29 2020

Brethren,

Unfortunately Grand Lodge in July is cancelled along with all meetings until at least August 31st, 2020.

The cancellation of meetings means that we will not be holding our Lodge’s annual events of the Master’s BBQ, our July meeting which would have been the Warden’s Association degree night and BBQ and the August meeting that would have been the Present and Past Grand Lodge Officers Degree night and BBQ (that was to be attended by the Deputy Grand Master).  These summer BBQ’s usually raised a significant amount of money which this year was to go to the Elmvale & District Food Bank Building Fund.  The Lodge is still committed to donating money towards the food bank building fund, having raised some funds with events from last fall and winter.

If any member would like to make a contribution towards the Lodge’s donation to the food bank’s building fund please contact me or it may be made directly to the:

Elmvale & District Food Bank Building Fund

Knox Building

35 Queen Street West Unit-B

Elmvale ON L0L 1P0

The Food Bank is a registered charity and provides tax receipts.

Also if any member knows of Brother that is ill or in circumstances of distress can you please let me know.

Fraternally,

V.W. Bro. David

All Events Postponed

Brethren, Due to the rapidly evolving Public Health advice concerning the novel coronavirus (now named COVID-19) it has been decided to cancel all Masonic events for an indefinite period. This includes lodge meetings, memorial services and social events. Those lodges who have requested dispensations to cancel or postpone in the past two days, will be covered by this blanket dispensation. We will continue to monitor the situation and will inform you when it is safe to re-open. Depending on the length of time this situation lasts, there will be several other administrative adjustments which we will have to make. We will inform you of these in good time. Please remember your vulnerable brethren and check in on them by phone or e-mail regularly. Continue to follow the advice of the health authorities and be safe. David J. Grand Master

Coronation Lodge Sign Restoration and Building Improvements

Brethren,
The Lodge's Building Committee has been busy this summer improving and
beautifying our Lodge. Included in the work has been the addition of
composite boards to our front entranceway, installing a brick façade along
the west wall base, re-roofing the back addition and the restoration and
installation of the original Coronation Lodge electric sign.

The Coronation Lodge sign originally was on the building from the 50's up
until the renovations done in 1988. The sign was stored in the back shed
and pretty much forgotten about. It was restored by Mike, Craig
and Dave, re-lit and mounted above the entrance way and has
the saying "Happy to meet, Sorry to part, Happy to meet again" inscribed on
the rear side of the sign so that all can see it when departing the Lodge
building.

Thank you to Mike, David and Craig along with John, his son Ryan,
Dale, Peter, Bill and Bill (my apologies if I
have missed someone) for their hard work in keeping our Lodge property
beautiful.

Official Opening of Elmvale District High School Addition

Brethren,

This evening Bro. John Holt and I had the distinct pleasure of representing Coronation Lodge at the official opening of the Elmvale District High School Addition.  The addition was funded through a partnership of the Provincial Government, Municipal Government and the local community.  The addition includes a new kitchen, combined cafeteria/auditorium (affectionately called a cafatorium) and a new gymnasium.  The community has access to the use of these facilities and it is definitely a win-win for all.  Almost two years ago our Lodge raised funds through a couple of dinners for the school and we presented a cheque to the Fundraising Committee at that time.  Tonight we were honoured along with many other community partners for our assistance.

The role of the Lodge is not to be a service club, but it is equally important to be part of the community and show that we care.  Thank you to all who donated to this project.  Tonight was one of my proudest moments as a Mason.

Fraternally,

V.W. Bro. David Don

Coronation Lodge wins it's 7th straight Traveling Gavel

Brethren,
On Wednesday evening the Lodge won it's 7th straight Traveling Gavel at Beaver Lodge in Thornbury.  The brethren of Beaver Lodge did a wonderful job of ritual work in the second degree and after the degree did a poignant Service of Remembrance as is their tradition at their November meeting.  The Traveling Gavel is up for grabs at the next Official Visit as our own R.W. Bro. James Stiles is welcomed in his own Lodge on November 28th.

We will be presenting R.W. Bro. Stiles with a cheque for $1000.00 for his District Project - "Huronia Ride for Dad" (monies will go towards Prostate Cancer research in our area).  The money was raised at the two BBQ's we held in the summer months.

It is also "Pie Night".  Please consider attending to support our DDGM and have some fellowship afterword enjoying at least one piece of pie (or more if your waistline can handle it).
